Jhilmil Jheel is a pristine wildlife conservation reserve located on the floodplains of the Ganges River. Declared a conservation reserve by former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2005, it provides a safe habitat for major carnivores like Bengal Tigers and Indian Leopards, wild Asian Elephants, and five distinct species of deer — including the endangered Barasingha (Swamp Deer), Sambar, Spotted Deer (Cheetal), Barking Deer, and Hog Deer — along with over 250 species of birds.
